You can get a wand from ebay for $60-$100 (make sure it has the leather case that says NANO WAND on it).  If it works, might be better than borrowing a wand.

Here is my suggestion:

Step 1:    Wand a beliver with an ordinary pen. Then, ask the beliver if he/she feels anything.

Step 2:    Wand a non-believer with both real wand and ordinary pen. Then, ask the non-beliver if he/she feels any difference.
