Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

25% cell efficiency is the current laboratory record.

Your info relates to *photon* absorbtion (already was at 80%+), not *cell* efficiency.

A primary reason for the difference between cell efficiency and photon absorbtion is that many electrons re-combine with the 'holes' created in the P-N junction before they can exit as usable power.

I don't see anywhere where it is stated the photon absorption efficiency is different from the cell efficiency.. can you provide a link?

Thanks,

Improvements on cell efficiency are good... The greater the efficiency, it's better.

But  costs are important too. Greater efficiency have to be achieved with lower costs.

Using sunlight concentrators (lens, mirrors) is the best way to minimize costs, because it reduces the area of the photovoltaics panels itself (the photovoltaic panels are the most expensive part of a solar device). Of course, the greater the efficiency of the photovoltaics panels, greater will be the efficiency of the whole device that uses sunlight concentrators.

The goals in the field of photovoltaics are: more efficiency, in a smaller area, with lower production costs and greater durability.

The day when humanity can produce electricity from solar panels with a cost of 2 cents per kilowatt-hour, there will be no more need to research overunity and magnet motors, because all energy problems will be solved.

[EDIT] In order to make sunlight concentrators with very low cost, I think this is a good idea:
