Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

I just found "Joule Thief 101". This is exactly what I wanted.

http://www.overunity.com/index.php?topic=8341.0

As always, the obvious was already done by more clever people.

Sorry, I should have looked more carefully, before suggesting a project that already exists.

Greetings, Conrad

The Observer

Greetings,

Conrad... lot's of useless posts.   yes

I tried surfing through Joule Thief the last 2 days.
It would be nice if a synopsis of the current circuit designs & theory were posted every few pages.
Of course, I guess asking a serious poster for a summary wouldn't be a bad idea either.

It's funny, because after a couple years studying magnetism (Magnetic Permeability, Anisotropic Energy, Domains etc)
I started to realize that a square type pulse would be a very interesting input to a transformer. (besides resonance)

I do have a signal generator... but a few days ago I wished for a simple square wave circuit.
I decided to decipher what the whole Joule Thief hubbub was anyways...
Turns out, it cuts of an inductor (like a square wave) to obtain a huge back pulse
                                                                                                                                                  from the collapsing core.
                                                             Wish granted.

Anyways we could start a thread called

Joule Thief... meaningful posts, experiments and diagrams

Or    Any Subject...meaningful posts, experiments and diagrams.

Have a  good one.

P.S. My first change to this circuit is to move the diode (the load ) and put it across the inductor,
that way current from the battery will never go through the load.

Observer,
Much to my shame I have never built one of these,
If you are prepared to offer up
soup to nails
something like "the idiots guide to building a joule thief"

I will build and share !

Chet
Whats for yah ne're go bye yah
Thanks Grandma

@all

There is the joule thief schematic thread , you should find there the important stuff (with link to post), but the basic circuit is the one posted above some people put a cap in parallel with the resistor , each has there own winding technique and turn count , no cores are alike unless bought at the store .

The the joule thief 101 started by resonance man , some made commentary on how to make and tune them , i did a post or two detailing my tuning procedure .

There is nothing to it , try any part you find !

The big thread is always a good place to ask question , i did read all of it and made around 1000 post in it , the best way to learn is to do it .

Before saying that people don't share schematic ask !
that doesn't count for 2 or 3 person but most will be glad to help in any jt tread , i swear .

Anyone is welcome in mine !

Mark

Rams,

Looks like the Joule Thief 101 (see above)  is a good resource for basic info and theory.
I am going to study this thread  today.
