im not a musician either, but simply put
the "low F" should be 171.19Hz

for most people, the human ear cant hear the difference
its because of 'where we are' in the universe.
the band in the center is not perfectly centered, its off towards the "E" side. but its a 3-dimensional scale. most people try to look at it in two dimensions.
and tilted downwards towards the F.

basically what im trying to say, theres a fractal octave shift, starting at the first node. so on one side, instead of it being 1
its really 1.337421875, which graduates to the "F" that we can actually hear several octaves higher.

they're all shifted to one side like that, on the 3-d scale
the proportional relationship between the frequencies determines how much it is shifted. but it all starts between the first two nodes. one side (E) is closer to the "center" than the other (F).

this proportion keeps comming out like the damn plank fraction
but im not really good at fractions, so i havent been able to pull this one out yet...

thats the best way i know how to explain it.
