After reading this post it came to mind that perhaps nobody had heard of a different type of windmill that is extremely efficient, inexpensive, simple to build, and easily set up by one person. ?

You want plans that include furling (or some other means of protecting your windmill).

I bought this fellow's windmill plans, and his steam engine plans. I don't recommend them. If you read his patents, and look at the photos on his website, then you'll have most of the information that he gives out in his "plans".
Did you buy his plans before recommending them to people?
Hi, I would like to build a windmill generator. I have the windmill part taken care of, going to use a squirrel cage fan setup, but need to know how to build the permanent magnet generator part. If someone has plans on a good efficient generator, I would greatly appreciate it. I have check the websites above and they aren't helpful. Please note, I am a novice at electrical components so I need step by step and lots of pictures with laymans terms! I would rather not use a car alternator.

just find an old DC motor
they make great windmills
there are litterally hundreds of millions of surplus A/C motor/generators floating around the world.
these can be stripped from nearly ANY device that has a fan in it.
[ microwaves, humidifiers/dehumidifiers to name a few]
They are small, lightweight, and very efficient, and produce a perfect Sine-wave.
you simply gear them to the proper ratio for your windspeed, so that it spins above 2200rpm
These can accomodate nearly any type of windmill you design. a Flywheel will be needed for stabalization, as toque increases with load.
There are plenty of free plans available on the internet to 'build your own generator'
But if you are not adept at building magnet-generators, these are litterally FREE from junk devices and very simple to hook into your system.
rectified they can charge a battery bank, - in theory you could run A/C appliances straight off the generator, but load/supply tolerances will be very sensitive and as such would require a near constant windspeed.
i'll add a photo of one of these motor/generators shortly so that everyone can see what im talking about. On the small scale, these are the most efficient generators i have found that are widely available at no cost.
You can use a battery bank, and operate 12-24v lights and appliances to decrease your commercial electricity consumption. You can connect several of them together through your rectifier for increased output (mini wind farm)
some older ones require a small magnet to be placed on the inductor for 'bias', but most that were made after the mid 90's are slightly magnetized at the core, and start producing as soon as the thing spins.

Is there a way to back feed a generator in to your Circuit panel so you can sell power back to the power company? that would save me a lot on my power bill.

If you are producing enough that you have excess, then you won't have a power bill !

@Von, This is what I was thinking as well.
Can you just take the A/C power or if using D/C (plugged into an inverter) coming from the windmill and just plug that the wall? Wont that act the same as a solar panel and cause the meter to spin backwards?

Yes. Many electricity supply companies have a "Feed in tariff", this being what they buy your electricity off you for:

That is an interesting design but what will happen to it in a good stout
wind? Affraid it may not survive. I have seen many wind towers go down

On the website he states “It has been shown to withstand wind speeds in excess of 70 MPH without damage. Load sensitive sail cables that break under predetermined loads can protect sails, pumps and equipment in extreme conditions.â€
I have been wanting to build a windmill similar to that one but adding some technology from the cup sailboat racing sail design.

What about this: building a few Imhotep/Bedinis that blow the air onto these mylar/button magnet windmills? It could be a closed system that generates free electricity! Could build many of them and put in your basement or anywhere.

Hi guys it would be a very good idea as Bedini said just to build a small device that can drive the base resistor of a bedini circuit and charge big batteries. ;)
