Exactly.   Analysts said the same thing.   When the politicians run out of tricks to try on their economies, fresh riots will return to the streets.

Yeah, and Europeans since the Dark Ages have had a tradition of putting off the inevidable until it's so bad they're forced to do something about.  The invasion of the Huns and the Mongols are a case in point.  Frankly, a lot of people are the same way.  Nobody likes to live hard for little or no reward.

All governments may have some of the same problem with less-than-ultruistic leaders.  Voting them out will replace them with more people like them.

The answer?  triffid is getting a gun.  I myself am at least looking for an inexpensive, K-Bar style survival knife.  What you do depends upon your situation.
