Right, triffid.   There's an Athiest Church in TN or KY (?) that faces regular, intense persecution from "ruthless and plentiful" local residents because they're different and they live in a 'redneck', heavily Christian state.   And that's according to a nationally recognized magazine which features alternative, politically-incorrect opinions.
       I'm not the least bit surprised.   I'm certain I'd be thought of as less than acceptable by them for being transgendered and transsexual, as well.


On an economic note, there was an article in a local alternative-press newspaper here in S.F. that warned that a proposed, expensive overhaul of an existing drinking-water-tunnel from the Hetch-Hetchy water supply system,  between there and San Francisco,  is in danger of failing because of advanced age.   (Opened in 1925.)
       Money simply isn't available to do the job.
That's my point:   The economy in Calif is beginning to suck and nothing I can see on the horizon will ever make it better.   It's no better, nationally and in all other States, IMO.

I'd get ready for the worst, everyone---and, you, triffid---as well.   I have an exit plan, and I suggest you think of one yourselves.   That goes for everyone.

Finally, I'm very glad to see this thread is getting so much attention---how much attention is that?---so much attention, that the poll at the start of this thread on Page 1 has the largest participation numbers that I've ever see at this site.   And half the voters think the economy in going 'downhill, the pipes/tube/toilet'.
       Again, I'm not surprised.   You'd better gather supplies, sharp knive(s), other weapons, as needed---if you think it wise.   I do.
