For those who live in the USA and say it is outrageous to pay for tv must consider the fact this is what we do in the USA also.  Cable and Satellite is Pay-TV.  4 or 5 snowy channels (low quality) max with an off-air antenna with one Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) that is already paid for with donations (This is our free already paid for TV).

Satellite and cable systems both encrypt the PBS channel that has already been paid for by their viewers (which is against encryption laws) and then charge you again for it. LOL

Both Satellite providers charge for the few local channels that would otherwise be freely available from an off air antenna.

Then you have the Satellite and Cable Tv tax.  How is this free TV?

I live in the USA and get a whopping 12 digital channels (over the air) which include 3 Public Broadcasting channels (they are all different)  This is totally free to me.  if there is anything else I want to see that I can't get over the air....I just watch it on line....for free.  This includes movies and sitcoms, etc.  I have found that just about anything that is on cable, is available on the net for free if you look for it.  I don't watch much TV anyway but there is no way I would ever pay to watch it.

12 channels from different affiliates meaning the only difference is in the local news, local advertisements, or TV programs showing at different times.  I install satellite systems and I run into this from time to time.  This is not the case for the majority of people in the US.  I'll give you an example:  In Elkhart, IN you can pick up Elkhart, South Bend, and Possibly Fort Wayne local channels with an off-air antenna (and yes digital is a plus).  You're also paying for your internet connection when viewing movies and sitcoms.  You could use your broadband connection as your phone service also, such as Vonage.  Vonage is an excellent deal for anyone with a broadband internet connection ($24.95 per month with all the features with no additional fees other than tax).

I sent my fiance who lived overseas a Vonage box and talked to her unlimited minutes for $24.95 a month and she had a USA phone number even though she wasn't in the U.S.  (Phone service is all digital when both parties have Vonage)

I know more loop holes, but can't reveal them here.......hehehe

Oh, and the other loop holes, they are lawful (I don't want you to get the wrong idea).

I only pay $10/month for highspeed DSL.  (995kbps download)  So, my entire phone bill is only $30.00 for DSL, long distance on the house phone and fax line.  It all works well for me.  For my business I also have unlimited cell use with unlimited nationwide calling anytime for only $39/month.  But, like you say it is not totally free tv and internet movies but, keep in mind, 2 years ago I was paying $15/month for dial-up!!!!  I am just using rabbit ears on my TV set for now and I am sure I could bring in more channels with a better antenna system but, I just don't watch enough tv to make it work trying.  I am very happy with what I have now for home and business.  I am sure this all varies with location I am sure.

I have to laugh out loud when I get junk mail from the local cable folks trying to get me to sign up for their "package" for $90/month that includes basic cable (15 channels) and broadband internet.  They tell me I can then watch videos on the internet if I have broadband.  What a rip.  For an extra $30/month they will throw in my phone service too.........no thanks.

If this is the case, then you have most of us beat.  You're probably not missing much not having the other channels.  I find myself watching the local channels more than anything.  Too much TV is bad for anyone, opens yourself up to all the brainwashing....LOL
