@stefan

Thanks for the fix, when it happens.

Regarding the http://www.overunity.com/pages/update/

can you put a link to that on the page top where you have the Home  Community, etc. We had a link called Forum with the previous version.

wattsup

It was and still is always in the
   Menu   Navigationblock

the 3rd link under

It is a confirmed bug with FireFox 8 and SMF 2.01

I am still waiting for a final tested fix,
then I will apply it here.

See:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=454734.0
and:

Many thanks for your patience.

Until then you need to rename the downloaded attachments manually.
Regards, Stefan.

@stefan

The links above do not address the same issue, although I do know that when you try to save an image that is on the forum, the image name defaults to index.php, but that is not the problem we are talking about here.

It is specifically about not being able to add  more then one attachment and also not having the buttons validate on the post page.

Below is the W3C example for using br in XHTML2.

Notice no space between the <br and the />.
The usage is
.

Now I regrabbed the source file and only removed the space and everything works fine. So no need to remove the forward slash, JUST THE SPACE.

So if possible, please remove the spaces in the program and everyone will be happy campers.
I did a find and replace and counted 144 changes. W3C saw 163 errors so that's not bad.

Thanks again.

@stephan
the closing slashes are not the problem. wattsup is fully confused...
they are COMPLETELY VALID... don't go messing with them. if you are going to mess with anything, clean up the code so there aren't MISSING />'s all over the place. and clean up the orphaned start and end tags.

wattsup... this site ISN'T XHTML2  !!!  ::)  dude.  look at the DOCTYPE!!  XHTML 1.0 TRANSITIONAL
are you that clueless? can't just cherry pick specs from whatever family type suits your argument... you have to use the specification FOR THE DECLARED DOCTYPE!!  ::)
instead of not giving 2 furts about the xhtml,html,ml or whatever... LEARN WHAT THEY ARE FOR!!

perhaps you can explain why heairbear had ZERO problems with uploading and formatting using a vanilla FF8?

everyone? really? you tested this hack on ALL browser agents?
how about instead of removing the /'s why don't you take the static page you downloaded and fix all the errors so it validates under the declared doctype ( XHTML 1.0 ) and see if that doesn't fix your errors? instead of taking a chainsaw to already ugly code and moving it further from ever possibly validating...

Okay, the Firefox Download problem is solved now.

Now the attachments are stored correctly.
@Wattsup,
the multiple attachments also works okay, so it is only a problem at your end.
Maybe you don´t have the newest Java installed or any other FireFox Plugin or
Add-on is jamming it ?

Try to see here if you have the latest version of your addons:

Hope this helps.
