I am pretty sure the ring have batteries, take a closer look, you will see the ring tape move, like coil inside are powered by batteries.

Yes, but what is he hiding behind that upright sheet of plywood?

If that ring was the only motive force, why have the sheet there and why keep whatever is behind it hidden, when he shows us the underside making a point there is nothing underneath.

Also check this one, look at the bottom of the screen on the top ring, you will see the tape jump in a circle pattern like a coil, and when you look at all the ring you see this circle pattern in all 90 degree, so i bet between the coil its batteries

I watched videos 1 through 10 (are there more?) and none showed behind the plywood wall.

Obviously there is an accompanying rotating magnet of some sort on the other side that we can't see, causing the one we do see to rotate. Why have the wall there if he has nothing to hide?
