Okay,

I found this part of the story a little bit backward in logic, so feel free to share your opinion.

The snake (evil) convince Adam and Eve to eat the apple (knowledge).   What the story said is they should not eat the apple.

1/ my argument:   Knowledge is wisdom, it does you more good than harm.

2/ back argument:   Knowledge allow one to know both good and evil, there for evil can be created.

I say what's the point of free will if you have no knowledge.  That means you're just sheeps waiting to be feed on time.  The story implies that Adam and Eve should just be ignorance.  To me, the story have been twisted.  The snake should be God, and God in the story should be the snake.

The problem you are running into is not properly identifying the elements involved.

The serpent was subtle implying deception.

The knowledge included the knowledge of  evil.

Eve accepted the direct contradiction to the truth that God had revealed to them.  This is the first lie recorded in the Bible.

Here they are contrasted:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

There is only one truth.

What happens afterward is also of importance:

God goes on to ask Adam what he did, and he blames Eve AND God, instead of himself. God then asks Eve what she did, and she blames the serpent, instead of herself. (They both passed the blame onto someone or something else instead of owning up to it).

3:9 Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
3:10 The man said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
3:11 God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
3:12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
3:13 Yahweh God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

::) Just my two cents
?When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.?

THE GARDEN OF EDEN

The Garden of Eden typifies man's original state of perfection before he began to have experience. The Tree of Knowledge means the Life Principle which can be used both ways. It bore the fruit of the knowledge of both kinds of experience, good and evil, freedom and limitation. Man must choose which kind of fruit he will eat. "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve."  Man makes his choice consciously but generally in ignorance. The serpent typifies the Life Principle viewed from the materialistic viewpoint; it casts man from his perfect state through his belief in duality and separation. Man chose to depart from Good, and man alone must choose to return to It. God lets him alone; for he is a free agent and may do as he wills with himself. When man decides to return to his Father's House, he will find that his Father is still there. "Act as though I am and I will be." "Onlook the Deity and the Deity will onlook thee." "Be firm and ye shall be made firm." "As though hast believed so be it done unto thee."  "Ask and it shall be given unto you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you."  God's Creation is Perfect and we must wake to the fact and know that we are now in the Kingdom of Heaven.
