I have drawn a schematic from it. Even if it's pretty simple; I did not get the effect.
I used a lawton pulser, with lowest frequency and a diode in series, to get an
open circuit, when the internal mosfet shuts off.
I chose a On/Off ratio, at which the lamp is barely lit and apply the HV, with no effect.
You cannot see any diodes in the HV circuit in the vid.
The spark gap is not in action, also not in his videos.
If we cannot get to the point with the simples setup's forget about replicating akulas device. Chance to get it equals 0.

The spark gap. SR193 didn't used spark gap. He was shorted it, so he have had pure Electrostatic Force Filed in inner and outer space of his coil which he have modulated with NF signal source of lowest frequency of 1.9 Hz or maybe lower. !! Try it without spark gap and {another side of secondary coil is free - not connected to antything}. Try to make coils freely movable so you will have a space for fine tuning !! Also try inner tube from Aluminium or Copper !! And try to rotate coils on 180 degrees so you can change winding direction en configuartion of Fields in your experiment !! Also try to play with Earth Grounding at the least!!
