Definitely a scam.  It's a known, but less often used technique.  From your point of view it might be hard to see it as such, as it was aimed at you personally, but it's clearly bullshit.

I even went on to see if the hotel existed, and it does, but since Lwh posted the seemingly exact scam, I touch it no further.

So either Nueview is the culprit or someone knows he is on vacation and using his email.
Kind of weird if it is him.
