SINGLE WIRE JOULE THIEFS

Figure 1 is a standard pancake coil (many Tesla coil builders are familiar with this style). Figure 2 is a bifilar coil, the crux of the patent is where Tesla winds a dual wire and then connects the ends in a series (an interesting experiment for coil builders).

Tesla explains that a standard coil of 1000 turns with a potential of 100 volts across it will have a difference of .1 volt between turns. A similar bifilar coil will have a potential of 50 volts between turns. In that the stored energy is a function of the square of the voltages, the energy in the bifilar will be 502/.12 = 2500/.01 = 250,000 times greater than the standard coil!"

The improvement involves a novel form of transformer or induction-coil and a system for the transmission of electrical energy by means of the same in which the energy of the source is raised to a much higher potential for transmission over the line than has ever been practically employed heretofore, and the apparatus is constructed with reference to the production of such a potential and so as to be not only free from the danger of injury from the destruction of insulation, but safe to handle.  To this end I construct an induction-coil or transformer in which the primary and secondary coils are wound or arranged in such manner that the convolutions of the conductor of the latter will be farther removed from the primary as the liability of injury from the effects of potential increases, the terminal or point of highest potential being the most remote, and so that between adjacent convolutions there shall be the least possible difference of potential.


In constructing my improved transformers I employ a length of secondary which is approximately one-quarter of the wave length of the electrical disturbance in the circuit including the secondary coil, based on the velocity of propagation of electrical disturbances through such circuit, or, in general, of such length that the potential at the terminal of the secondary which is the more remote from the primary shall be at its maximum. In using these coils I connect one end of the secondary, or that in proximity to the primary, to earth, and in order to more effectively provide against injury to persons or to the apparatus I also connect it with the primary.

Coils of the character herein described have several important advantages.  As the potential increases with the number of turns the difference of potential between adjacent turns is comparatively small, and hence a very high potential, impracticable with ordinary coils, may be successfully maintained.

You keep putting the cart before the horse. First off, "G" is a dynamo as it states in the patent. A generator or alternator to produce the supply voltage. There is nothing there to discover. He tells us what it is in his patents. It's too bad that you don't understand this.

Now, as far as the cart before the horse. A joule thief is a device that utilizes BEMF (back electro motive force). A device that utilizes BEMF is not necessarily a joule thief. Until you fully understand this, you will have problems. Most if not all of your devices are using BEMF. There is no magic here. Now you have come out with this thread "single wire joule thief". A single wire is NOT a joule thief. Then you have the other thread named "no transistor joule thief". If it doesn't have a transistor, it isn't a joule thief. I really think they are wasted space as they do not really show anything new. It's like if I start a thread named "vehicle with no motor". A car with no motor that you need to push to get to where you want to go. There is no difference between my car and your transistorless joule thief that you pulse by hand.

I do not mean to be rude about this but I think you really need to do a little more reading and maybe a little less posting. You really need to get a better understanding of the basics.
