I really feel bad about your difficulties of getting parts for your experiments -and I know how that feels to not be able to complete an experiment properly

I have found an electronics surplus parts supplier here in Toronto -- who will ship all over the world --An example of some of their prices is--$ 2.88 U.S. for the IRF 250 .
I believe you said you were in Costa Rica and I just got off the phone with the chick here and she said a shipment below 1 lb of parts will be about $19.00 to ship there by Canada Post.

I found their prices slightly better than "Electronic Goldmine"  in the U.S.

hi Nickz and everyone,

If you got a choice to select between IRFP250 and IRFP260.
Do try to go for 260 version.The RDS on for 260 is mere 0.04ohms compared to 0.075ohms (IRFP250)for 200volt rated mosfet.
Lower rds is a better choice to reduce heat generation.

The 600volt version for my mosfet rds on is 0.075ohms.
