  Keep up the good work, DA1.  I suggest that you find a bigger 3 inch yoke, and wind the turns tightly against the yoke, as possible.
What voltage are you using to light the bulb, and what wattage is that bulb?

I think this can be done without PLL, but if you attempt it, you must use a fixed load and the power source you start the device with must be pretty close to the same output as the loop power supply that keeps the device running.

What do you mean by the 'loop power supply'? The device is claimed to only need a touch from a small 9V battery to start-up and then run at full output without the need for any other conventional power supply.

It is output power feedback loop. With first pulses you induce power which comes back over power supply back to the input and only the losses in circuit on moment of start-up are being taken from battery.

Basically the 9v battery is only used to charge input capacitors which do the rest for first push in the loop.
