I agree that schematic is conventional. I also built it and as expected there is nothing special. But! Not even close to his device efficiency. I was lucky and i have seen this video that i am looking for. I believe his secret is on the yoke core side which is covered in his videos. He built a high voltage coil in there and i believe he uses high voltage spikes to discharge or charge the in-series capacitor while in oscillation. Needs further investigation.

Hello all,
I have been trying to get my transformer to oscillate at the same frequency as the output of TL494 push-pull Generator all to no avail. There seems to be a difference in the oscillation frequency between the too.

What could be the problem of this parasitic oscillation which is increasing my Freq at Xformer output side
