Yea Adrian Guska posted some thing like that about 4 or 5 years back
but in was on one of the threads if you look back and time to wast.

The problem with Spark Gaps is you need about 2.5 kv just to get a fly back pulse
couldn't it be done using solid state components in your type of idea ?

you could sample the charge voltage against a reference voltage fed into a current seance in your chosen
bipolar emitter leg or MosFet sauce leg using a
compactor and use that to feed into an RS flip flop triggered by set pulses at the appropriate timing
simple 

control of charge reset latch for fly back circuit  it just needs 2 op amps and a mos fet

Breakdown voltage is approximately 460 volts.

I remember that Wesley and his Lithuanian friends had similar ones too.

What are they some sort of gas filled low voltage spark gap ?
And what are they called and where do you get them from ?
