The simple circuit presented is one that you will find in any elementary electronics text book.  Given your post 94, I would like to know what you expect to see.  How would that affect your decision on how to set-up your oscilloscope?

If as you now say that you should use DC coupling, have you gone back and repeated your measurements with your oscilloscope set to DC coupling?  Have you fixed your grounding problems?
