It seems old military stuff is pretty high grade and it seems to go out of fashion really fast. This does not mean the transformer is broken or that the bar of Terfenol-D is not useable.

Are there any websites for such items? I found one in the US, but the prices were just astronomical and that plus postage to Europe is just too much. So how about sites in Estonia, Lithuania, Poland or other countries (once) tied to the USSR?

If there are such sites are there any that are also in English?

I picked up some fine military grade 400 hz 5,000 volt transformers for a really good price. you just have to be looking and be patient until the deal comes around. they are perfect for my non Figuera device i am working on.
