Why anyone who is serious about researching anything would waste their time with Google is beyond my understanding.  For serious research you have to use a search engine that isn't controlled by censors.  Try Mojeek for real search results.

Also remember hearing it needs to be powered by the mains to run ( perhaps they finally got it looped?)

You have it completely mixed up, have it wrong.

1. NO NOT     "Sonny Millers magnetic twist drive unit"     at all !

2. It uses no electrical input.  has nothing what so ever to do with the mains.....
