Well I'm back...nice to see things moving along..Thanks ironhead.
Just a q but is there a cap on how much voltage you dump into your cell?
Ya know ummm some dooos and don'ts. ::)
All i got is 120v or 2000v
and my variac will only handle 120v at 2.5 amps ???

Be careful with aluminum reactions, on a large scale anyway. contain the stuff and
waste it properly .

Treat KOH with the same respect
http://www.pesticideinfo.org/Detail_Chemical.jsp?Rec_Id=PC33653

The next steps are going to be on much higher voltage. Yeah I know that 2 volts or whatever is all you can put on each plate in a cell and then you get heat beyond that.

But if I put 200 volts  at low amps to my cell and get 10 times the output of  HHO at 150F* then you bet I will deal with the heat  and in the long run the heat will be used to aid reaction once the cell is all closed up and running in a circuit .

This will be when there is a cooling circuit  in place to condense steam and KOH  back and return to the cell. We are not there yet. So for those that have Variacs we want to see the effect as we turn up the voltage in  straight water.

This is going to help understand the  steps that will be taken in controlling  amp dump, where we use volts instead of amps to get high output. The amps will go up as you do this ,but We will be talking about restricting those amps using magnetic fields ie chokes. Your are going to need a 300 volt Full bridge rectifier and a minimum 220AC output  variac.

This step is for an HV-HHO and not completely necessary to work with.
This is only for those that wish to get  into into HV

For those that are not ready to do this  just keep your eyes on what the rest are doing and learn while you are building your cells and testing the charge.

Things are going to start branching off into different types of cells,  you choose which path to follow

There will be time to prepare for all of this.
I still want to hear from the rest of you and your cell progress including you guys that don't normally post.

It?s easier to be forgiven than it is to get permission....

Hi All,

This looks like a fun forum.  I suppose I need some Stainless steel to start building one of these cells.  Any suggestions on the type of Stainless steel to use and where to purchase it.  Home Depot or Lowes maybe?

Welcome, magnetar;

You'll find a few things at Homer's, like sheet 1/4" acrylic, marine GOOP, and wire connectors, but the stainless has to be good grade stuff.  ALRO has it, or read throught the thread and find the online sources IronHead posted.  20 ga 316L will flat eat yer jigsaw blades fer lunch, but that's the price you'll pay if you wanna play. And nickel ain't cheap since all the gas grills and kitchen appliances are using stainless.
"Fun forum?"
Well, If you think in terms of beating big oil into submission, at least in yer own sphere of influence, then, yes, it's a veritable blast.
Yet, that blast could take on some mighty unbecoming characteristics if you don't take this research seriously.

Jest a friendly warning, magnetar.   Handle with care.

Here's that mason jar lid mod and it running on 0.01 normal KOH

The cylinders are single test units from a larger 7 tube cell still in the works.

Thanks for the info, Keith.  Im not too open to the idea of having HHO in an enclosed container with pressure in it without a spark arrester if any ignition tests are perfromed in an experiment.  I assume that HHO does not need to be mixed with an external source of oxygen to ignite since the oxygen is contained within the HHO molecule.
