What is Electricty What is Magnetics?

As far as I know, and I will be glad to stand corrected if wrong, NO ONE knows what electricty is, or what magnetism is, or, what gravity is.  They all know, or think they do, how they behave and what you can or can't do with them but, it never ceases to amaze me that, in this day and age, NO ONE knows.  This tells me that they are the key to the secret of the universe...otherwise, we would already know all about them.

I don't know and have never seen a real answer just it effects and manipulations.
How I try to look at it.
Electricity - imagine a steel slinky. stretch it This is electricity. Now hit one end. A wave will go from one end to the other and back again. This is a signal in a wire. now put something on one end of the slinky that vibrates easier. Hit the other end of the slinky - the wave moves along the slinky and then disapates as the item on the end uses the wave energy. This item at the end corresponds to a light or a motor or whatever 'uses' electricity. Understand, its potential is always there it is in everything but different materials will vibrate differently - some more readily than others. This is conductivity. The wire of the slicky are the electrons in an item. Each spiral segment effected by the adjacent segment.

What is magnetism - a tornado, a vortex, an electon stuck in its orbit such that it can only move it a very small space which would be the vortex. like being attached to the nucleus of an atom by a thread and as it tries to escape it can only go in circles not orbits.

Now pass the slicky past a row of vortexes and it will cause a wave to be generated in the slinky due to the elecrons of the vortexes moving the electrons along the slicky arc which will cause a wave to be generated and if the slicky is tapped then the wave is moved out to do work elsewhere.

Hope I made sense. This is sort of how I envision things. Coudl be wrong but I haven't heard any better.
What I can't understand is how my chenestry teacher in primary school said that an electron belonging to an atom could be anywhere, as in inches or yards or miles away from the nucleus. I don't think so.

well i know there are people out there that in fact do know what it is  and how it does work  and i aint talking me here   :(

To understand the action of the local condenser E in fig.2 let a single discharge be first considered. the discharge has 2 paths offered~~ one to the condenser E the other through the part L of the working circuit C. The part L  however  by virtue of its self induction  offers a strong opposition to such a sudden discharge  wile the condenser on the other hand offers no such opposition ......TESLA..

Its Juice! thats what. it flows dont it? then its Juice! you cant get no juice throu circuits coz they are all plugged up with wires,resisters diodes mosfetts trannys and stuff! :). Yep its Juice alright!  :o

  I look at it this way trying to explain electomagnetic interaction when an electrical conductor is involved.  Magnetism is a force which is trying to reproduce.  It tries to make that which surrounds it as it is. Magnetism when encountering a conductor begins to work on the atom to orient the neucleus to look like it.  The neucleus of the atom does not move away or towards the magnetic force but begins to roll to align itself with the magnetic force lines.  The electrons of the conductor are caught up in this roll because of the reorientation of the protons in the neucleus.  The electrons in the outer energy orbits find themselves being drawn through space still trying to stay in their orbitals but gaining relative velocity in a uniform direction within the conductor.
Then the real trick happens.  The neucleus stops rolling cause it looks about as much like the magnetic force as it ever is going to.  The electrons though very light are moving in a vectored path now and have built up momentum.  They snap the rope tieing them to the proton and go off on their own free at last.  Unfortunately they dont get far before they run into the next atom with a proton looking to pickup some electrons.  And the electrons are trapped again.  They aren't too happy either because they are all caged in on one side of the atom. So they start to go towards their mutual corners and in so doing begin to roll the neucleus back to a position controlled both by the orbits of the electrons and the magnetic force on the neucleus.  Well then why does an electron movement cause a magnetic field change perpendicular to the electron vector.  As the recently freed electrons crash the next electrons party the neucleus reacts by rolling  away from the new electrons.  The neucleus itself has it's own magnetic desires and with a bunch of these coward protons rolling in the same direction create a new magnetic field  because the atomic orientation has become more ordered.  The new electrons get into the fray and electrons that were invited find themselves pushed out the door to the neighbors house where they start havoc again. 
     Change the magnetic look back in the generator and the whole chain reaction starts over again.  This doesn't serve to explain the universe just a scenario that serves my purposes in explaining electromagnetic interaction within a conductor.
