On Russian forums Kacher circuit is very popular: single transistor instead spark gap makes TC resonates on its NATURAL resonance cause base pucks up pulses from secondary .. All you nead is METAL plate near TC filament bulb and pice of longer wire or grounding.. Filament bulb works at full inteisty  100W and imput is 24W for example...
There is NO loop around coil for pickup, NO transformation effect no low turn wire for pickup ...
5kW Spark gap classic tesla coil can not burn filament bulb with plate near it..

Well this debate is simply due to the fact that there is MANY Kapanadze devices. When you look into the patent WO2008103129A1 you see that the frequency is adjusted at position 7 and 11, this schematic relates most likely the small device in the glamour-looking demonstration where the guy starts it up with a 9V block.
It can be very well solid state, you don´t necessarily need spark gaps to create a high frequency (nowadays). That is my whole point.
The green box thing most probably doesnt have that feature being an early version and that should be the one that folks should try to replicate first and then go from there.
Since spark gaps are not the most healthiest thing, solid state would be a nice way to go for later versions.
