The problem i have with this simulation is that there is no LOAD anywhere in the second link. In the first link no measurements are taken.
So of course you will have the reactive components increased.
With a constant load this might maybe work somehow if tuned to it.
Generally the load will tend to broadband if it stays connected to the cap all the time.
But the guy encourages people to build it for themselves and he is right in so far as that you cannot know if something works if you haven't built it.

I wonder if we should try to resonate both the primary and secondary individually with correct capacitance?

yep..  we should try everything, resonating together, separate, etc, the frequency need not to be very big but not to be very low, tesla said 20 Kilohertz is the ideal.
yesterday i did tests with ordinary primary and secondary coil but underneath i have a long high inductance coil tesla secondary coil,  the coils resonant frequency was 1.2mhz, at that point the lamp lit the brightest,  im figuring out how to bring down resonant frequency to 20khz,  i connected an 1000pf cap to the high resistance tesla coil underneath to its connections, then i could set the resonant frequency down as 170khz where the lamp was the brightest, 1.2mhz was no longer resonant frequency,   what im doing is resonant correction,  So i will set the coil to the same freq to the flyback
im nearly there

dont even give attention to them man... they cant and they will never be practical.  if they would want to help they would have done it long time ago .
