and than saturation of the core is  our problem  but not when we use significantly low power.

I think the SG can be a load indicator only.....
If TK have a large load then have low freq. of SG
If small load then have high freq. SG, etc...

If say the only  problem of TK was to get transformer to resonance and keep spark of any frequency at all
just to do not let transformer to  burn..
Than apply mechanism   explained by me  in post above...
Membrane.....altering magnetic flux of electromagnetic field of transformer...
Buzzer works on the same principals but it does not have influential membrane.

I do not think the spark limiter in the output is possible because if there existed such a high potential that leads to breakthrough in this situation it would have serious problems with the inclusion of sensitive loads, so I think it is unnecessary or (where is placed ) or his place is a completely else!
