It could be easily faked.
In each device could be batteries, so that the connector
only shorts out the connecting wires, so the batteries inside the devices
are connected to the lights or the motor.

Why would he otherwise use such a big case for the motor ?
Or why is the connection cord rolled up around a ?? battery holder ??
in the 2nd light unit ?

Hmm... this video does not prove anything yet...
if the principle is not explained in detail....
