Both spark gaps in Fig.2 can be related to a set of capacitors, right?  Otherwise the circuit resembles a hairpin circuit if the capacitor in the drawing is moved to the left of the first load members.

Yes, this is simple, but unless one lives in a city, it'll take a lot of wire.  A lot of wire will still work, but it'll be something difficult to hide.

I can coil 200 feet of wire on plywood or strong piece of cardboard and tuck it away in the attic.It would be a way to hide a long piece of wire.
Then whatever amount of electricity it generates is what I would work with.
