so it is not important  to get a voltage ov 60kv or more and i dont need all these verry expensive semi condutcive oxides beta borates or semi condutive polycrstaline clacite bases lithium barium titanates and expencsive titanates and stuff like that.....maybe i need to go back to plain and simple could i have some of your best hi volts mid amps  mixes for cells reid hutcinson style or whatever just to get some that work as mine havent worked verry well although ive gotten three out of 52 cells with high voltages and hig amps 100 miliamps or more that also stay stable evrry well:) but i think these were flukes and one of them is the size of an old hutchinson artilery shell cell and a bit more if that. and some of yours are better and cheaper than mine i will keep trying with the refined exotic stuff aswell as more of the cheap eco freindly approach just got to go get my hotplate,mini microwave ion inductin nheater and mt tv flyback generator of 10 amps 100 volts-10 kv  and lest not forgwt my double van de graaff of upto 1 million volts of static lekky

@das: If you can get a microwave induction heating coil then I am now totally jealous  It may turn out to be your most important piece of equipement.

yes you will need all the exotic materials and at some stage a high voltage generator.
In the early days I found I was wasting alot of mine because I did not have a stable cell as a platform to build upon.

Ok here is a mix that works consistantly well. The preparation is as important as the materials used in it.

Firstly this is a silicate based cell and will require an extended cool down period (12 hours +)
Ingredients list.  ( alter the weights to suit the size of cell you wish to make )

17g     crushed volcanic rock ( pumice)
11.2g   Sodium carbonate      ( washing soda)
0.25g   Iron oxide                 (pigment used in cement)
3.0g    Rochelle salt       ( can be made with sodium carbonate and creme of tartar)
15g     quartz sand        ( now used for mechanical strength )
13g     plaster of paris
8g      white builders cement  ( portland will do )
30 ml  water
Aluminium tube as -ve and copper rod +ve

Crush and premix all ingredients except the plaster of paris and the cement, leave them out for now.
In a separate tin or pot mix and heat the brown paste. After about 30mins on medium heat ( do not boil) you may have to add a few more drops of water (distilled) as the mixture will thicken up.

Although this cell does not use sodium silicate directly you are using the chemical reaction between the sodium carbonate and the pumice to produce multiple silicates of M,Fe,Mg,K,Na and whatever else is in the volcanic rock. Not all pumice is the same chemical make up.

Keep the mix simmering for at least an hour, the longer the better. You should end up with a thick but pourable paste.
Now add the plaster of paris and cement and thoroughly mix. The paste will become thicker and has to be put into the Al tube reasonably quickly. The copper rod will need some form of support to keep it straight at this stage. Now for the slow cool down. I use a bucket of heated sand that takes about 12 hours to cool down. Much too short a time for my liking but thats all I've got. An induction heater would come in handy.

Note there is no pH adjustment done on this particular mix. What you initially have is a galvanic cell while the water content is high. At this point the cell voltage should be between 0.9v and 1.2v and will easily pump out 50mA or more. Still not a crystal battery.

The  matrix should be hard enough to support the copper rod in around 2 hours. Now comes the cells education.

There is an ongoing chemical reaction and micro crystal growth going on between the plaster of paris, cement and the newly formed silicates. Water molecules are being taken up and bound by the cements. Using a 12v dc supply, start to polarize the cell through a dropper resistor. 1Kohm should limit the current to 1mA or thereabouts.

Let that arrangement sit for 24 hours, measure the voltage across the cell from time to time and you will see the voltage increase, which means the current through the 1k is reducing. Do not seal the cell until you are sure the water content is all but gone, may take a week, be patient.

You will notice that when the cell is dry it will not be able to supply 50 mA, more like 200uA-1mA. Enough though to run a clock until the next Mayan calender runs out


These cells are highly temperature sensitive and their output will also vary depending on the time of day. Most interesting.
Anyway there you have it, a platform cell you can experiment with. There are lots of improvements that can be made so have fun.

Great work , i worked a summer with a mason and he use silicate dust ( very dangerous stuff if inhale mask is a real good idea) , it was used to mix in the cement , it may be better then quartz .

thankyou for this the cell has woked pretty well and seeing as though i didnt have copper available then i used bismuthas the rod in middle its pretty well good its more diaelectric than copper.do you have any reid style cells and any other good cells that use same or different ingreidients?

this cell has
Niobium powder
Barium titanate
Lithium titanate i know these are hard to come by but i works kinda well
quartz pure
Borax or epson salt and or rochelle salt you can use water glass or leave this out
tantalum in tanatalum capacitors and various types of silicates you need to experimnet on this bit
and quite a bit of germanium
This is a verry easy cell to make if you have these ingreidients you suggest giving it a low voltage shock or ahigh its your choice:) use alu as the tube and bismuthor any other metals you can think of you need to heat up this mix sadly verry little water involved..what is weird is thata variant of t this cell got a volt indefinate 1volt and 100 milliamps and i cannot figure out why? its slightly different mix but  its wierd also ive tried the cpu thing and ive found that if yu stack and wire two or more from the pins that are the strongest voltage you can get slightly more than with one  thats interesting... maybe ill make a big cell using only this method as i have a obsessed friend who collects cpus and will give me them:) its worth a try
also how are your other high voltages cells doing and are the ones thet are powering a clock still working well? is like to know

I have communicated with Mr. Paul Lawrence in the past about the following
subject. He seems like an honest experimenter. This concerns excess energy
from a piezoelectric crystal elements that are used to produce audio output in
simple electronic circuits. Since it seems more than likely these elements get their
excess energy from the same source as crystal batteries, I thought this would be
relevant in this thread. Its results will not be at all surprising based on what we
have seen from the various experiments in this thread. But it may clue people
into what to expect if they want their results to be formally accepted.

Try the following experiment to see something you would never expect. Don’t
do it unless you want endless sleepless nights wondering how it could be so.

Experiment:

Connect a *low* leakage capacitor across piezo *element*; e.g., Radio Shack part
number 273-073. Store it inside a container. In about a week open the container,
quickly & carefully measure the voltage across the capacitor. The capacitor
capacity depends on your meters input resistance. Do some tests to see how much
capacitance you need by charging the capacitor with a 1.5 volt battery first, remove
battery, then see if you can measure the voltage across the capacitor. While taking
the voltage measurement, be extremely careful to not touch it, or get your hands near
it. Regardless of how much electrical & thermal shielding you place the experiment in,
regardless of what capacitor you use, regardless how low leakage it is, regardless if no
heat sources are near the piezo, regardless of how much caution you take, the results
will be predictably surprising. The piezo will have placed a voltage on the capacitor.

Numerous scientists around the world are working on this.

Dear  Mr. Paul_L,

I was online when they deleted this thread! To me Physics Forum
actions are simply unbelievable. It *is* pure suppression. Where do
they think scientific knowledge comes from? This could easily have
something to do with dark matter or dark energy. So you should keep
doing these experiments. One of these days this stuff will be published
in Science, Nature or American Scientist magazine.
