  I'm very far from you all, and yet the same things are happening here, seams to be a popular world wide trend....   
   Which is one of the reasons that I need to get an electricity generator system going for my home, or even a portable one also, that requires no outside source to work.  Solar still seams like the best way to go, if you've got sunlight.  But, solar is not cheap, or much less free... and batteries need to be replaced after a while.
   I think that the indoor grow lights are another very practical idea, as food may become the biggest problem of all to obtain, with or without  chemicals.  But, then again it takes electricity to grow your own food. It takes a water source, and a well and water pump to pump water from a well.  But all quite necessary in possible times to come.  If I were going to INVEST,  those would be the kinds of things I'd spend my money on.
   

Solar can be a lot cheaper than you think.A solar panel that can keep a car battery topped off if you hardly ever use it can be bought for around $30.00.Most have built in blocking diodes so you get that at no extra cost if you are careful.Then a car battery at whatever price you can. For less than a $100 you can put together a solar corner like I had in my house in texas for eight years.I used a 12 volt system for everything  hooked up my solar panel.Inverters waste energy so I designed my system without one.I like the LED idea of growing plants indoors.Who sells those LEDs?They have to copy sunlight or the plants don't get the rays they need to grow.triffid
