We still get the spike but its in high current form rather than high voltage and moves in the right direction.

We need an open ended coil with a high self inductance so it should be wound on a ferrite rod.
Bifilar or trifilar would increase its capacitance.

Initial pulse builds a magnetic field in the primary which has a positive high voltage bemf that runs back through the open ended coil building a magnetic field which has a negative high amperage bemf that runs back into the primary, pulling outside energy into the conductive path of the primary and secondary.

Now you can see the reason for the diode on the primary leg, you get a voltage drop across the diode but without it the driver would be destroyed by current bemf from the open ended coil.

This is of the assumption that neg energy attracts pos and pos energy attracts neg like the ion clouds that form around the electrodes of an air purifier.

Tesla states he did this off the secondary the next logical step would be to do the same off the primary, what you wanna bet he ran the Peirce Arrow with three ferrite or in his case magnetite cores.
