The only flaw I see is there is there no such thing as a magnetic blocking alloy.  Sort of like the alloy in the movie "The Core", the alloy Unobtainium is hard to come-by.

sure there are magnetic-field blocking alloys,
the most well known being "MuMetal", which is
about 80% nickel and 20% iron.  there is also
a glass that acts similarly.  they both can
block over 95% of a magnetic field.

just do a search on "magnetic field shielding"
to learn more about these types of materials.

Unless I'm mistaken, they don't really block the magnetism but simply disperse it.  Rather like a heatsink.  The magnet will still be attracted to the shield but the magnetism will be dispersed on a wider area and not allowing as dense of a flux to pass to the other side.  I'm poor at explainations....but think of a 1,000 gauss magnet on a 1" area being shielded by a 6" magnetic shield.  The attractive pressure to the shield will be the same but the flux will be reduced to 1/6 per square inch.

There's always the possibility of me being wrong......
