Riots in France

It's true that people who were poor all their lives are less likely to protest (...most don't even vote, when they really need a voice more than anyone else).

But many of the "newly-poor", who are totally unprepared to not being able to go out for latte's or dinner at a restaurant whenever they feel like it, or who now have to give up the gym and their cell phones... Are much more likely to become politically active.

But they will fall into 2 categories: Those who would protest, and those who would "sell-out" easily: Accepting loss of freedoms for increased economic security... To keep their houses from being foreclosed on, to get "forgiveness" for their credit card debt, or to keep their corporate jobs; many people would embrace a tyranny with open arms and closed mouth.

I'm not too worried about the riots, I'm worried because the news is full of shit, the media is supposed to let the dummies who never read, know what the hell is going on in laymans terms....its creepy and depressing to see people all zombified, listening their ipod or texting on their cellphone or whatever, they don't give a shit about anything but themselves, like drug addicts or something.....
