Humans used to roam the earth barefooted for thousands of years. Or be at least in electrical contact with it for a big portion of the day. However in modern times we started wearing shoes usually made of a rubber or synthetic insulating bottom. Besides insulating us from earth this also causes mechanical problems to our feet.

There's a lot of research to the benefits of walking bare footed or grounding yourself during sleep. Just google, "grounding during sleep", you'll get a lot of research, and a lot of it is done by mainstream research institutes. Here's the result of one such clinical trial:

QuoteRESULTS: Measurable  improvements in diurnal cortisol profiles were observed, with cortisol  levels significantly reduced during night-time sleep. Subjects' 24-hour  circadian cortisol profiles showed a trend toward normalization.  Subjectively reported symptoms, including sleep dysfunction, pain, and  stress, were reduced or eliminated in nearly all subjects.
CONCLUSIONS: Results  indicate that grounding the human body to earth ("earthing") during  sleep reduces night-time levels of cortisol and resynchronizes cortisol  hormone secretion more in alignment with the natural 24-hour circadian  rhythm profile. Changes were most apparent in females. Furthermore,  subjective reporting indicates that grounding the human body to earth  during sleep improves sleep and reduces pain and stress.

Unlike all the other fancy electo therapies. This one lets earth do all the work. And it probably is the cheapest one out there. Just put on a grounded strap around your ankles, head or wrist and go to sleep.

Thats interesting Broli. It may be kind of hard to go to direct earth ground though when sleeping inside a house.
What I know I know!
Its what I don't know that's a problem!

It shouldn't be hard to do.  You could use your house ground but I think you would be subject to 60 cycle AC induction into the ground wire from adjacent wires and that is not likely healthy.  Best way is put a separate ground stake outside a bedroom window and just run a single copper wire from it through a wall into the bedroom.  Drill a hole just big enough for the wire and silicone it to seal out any moisture or bugs.    Bring it in about 4" above the floor and you'll most likely avoid hitting any other wiring.
Might want to avoid using it if there are lightning storms though  :o

Indeed. I wouldn't recommend the typical wall socket grounding. And yes at worse all you need is to drill one hole, and spend some cash on wire, if the wife doesn't mind  :P . And I wouldn't worry too much about thunderstorms in fact even if you're lucky enough that a lightning bolt hit your specific ground, there's no reason why you would be preferred over the juicy earth. But Of course millions of volts is not house hold voltage either. But unless you live in Tampa Bay I wouldn't worry about it.

Ironically thunderstorms could boost the effect, as they pump the local area full with electrons and all the natural harmonics.

That is interesting but some of it could be due to placebo effect.

A similar concept is to take an insulated aluminum plate and run a wire from it to a box in your basement. Place AL foil in the top of the box and put a plant inside. Place another piece of foil below the plant and attach that to ground. The plant will grow inside the box even though no light can get in. Place a test plant in a box beside it without the foil and it will die.

We are part plant in that you will die in six months without sunlight. I think you are on to something.

Most people that are having problems with stress and sleep just need to take some magnesium citrate. Natural calm is the brand I use and is the single most healthful thing I have ever discovered. Shaking hands? Bladder problems due to frequent urination? Fixes all that.

We used to eat sea salt that had magnesium in it. Now they remove that and you get sodium chloride and that is not salt.

Have a look at the ingredients of a Kosher Gatorade drink. Notice how they replace the sodium chloride with potassium chloride? People are low in potassium also.

I think I read somewhere that sodium is outside the cell and potassium inside to create a battery of sorts but don't quote me on that.
