Carbon is electrically conductive it would severely reduce the coils " Q " factor.

Thanks for trying that Geo. It would make no difference with a mains connected PSU or UPS but should with just a battery powering the device. However, the battery cannot be lifted and held at various heights in hands and would need to be raised and supported on dry wood blocks or cardboard boxes. Your roof would also not be a suitable support as its footprint to ground is huge. The object of this exercise is to look into the possibility of capacitance from ground to battery providing a return path for HV / HF current, not as you appreciate, a practical method for tuning. If absolutely no difference was seen to the waveform when scoping (mains isolated) across the lamp, then this IMO would be a significant observation.

I had a surprise in my case , the wire was 2.4 mm Sq not 2,5 and the PVC pipe was 1,6 mm thickness not 2mm like Ruslan device.

  the most important is if you use the calculator is that two lines on the graph to meet.
  so, measure copper wire without insulation and with isolation, measure PVC tube thickness, use the computer and see if it is closer to reality

Question:  How did you relate the Total length(802mm) given in the Calculator results  (single layer solenoid - one direction winding) and apply it to the Grenade coil (multi-layer solenoid- with reverse windings)?

I will attach this US patent ............. again................

This patent pretty much sums-up whats really going on here.........just imagine a multilayer solenoid in place of the Flat reactor coils in the patent.
