I agree with you. It is just that we treat grenade as a secondary Tesla coil, and there are already many simple sstc driver circuits out there, able to force grenade to output some thousands of volts instead of those 200-300V pk-pk. (If this is the case).

The grenade coil is the receiver and the coil transmitter with its top load is linked by capacitance. Also to be more precise, the bucking coil is ment to receive longitudinal wave.

I think it is close to the truth about the Tesla coil used in forced pulse mode with half-wave square signal as both akula and Ruslan made comments on that video about this matter. And the nanosecond pulse generator is making same pulse on the coax cable in Dally circuit.
When doing so you force the top load to charge on top of grenade like capacitor.
If you will test this, the resulting video would be nice so we can continue discussion.

P.S> It also makes sense to have HF filter between Tesla coil and top load in that mode.

i saw that video before, but i don't understand what i am looking at.
Is that square wave signal the Kacher MOSFET drive signal?
Is that yellow signal the kacher output signal?  If so it is very low frequency!

When the above is so, then i tried similar things, but decreasing the square wave (kacher MOSFET drive) pulse width, only decreases the overall kacher output,
no first peak increase is noticed like shown in the video.

Yes, i feed the switch with the signals coming from the TL494 before going to the MOSFET drivers.
I do not use the PLL or the 74HC14 at the moment.

The blue is the driving square wave. The yellow is the coil output showing resonant LC frequency. In way the Tesla coil used I suggested to approach it from the point where you have Tesla coil as step up pulse transformer with top load as capacitor attached.
As you have problems with Tesla coil, I would like to ask few questions:
1) What voltage on the primary coil you provide?
2) What frequency your Tesla coil is resonating on with top load attached to the grenade coil?
3) What amplitude you get when driving with 1/4th wave length and with 1/2th compared to the full resonant wavelength?
