If you have nothing to build, nothing clearly defined on your bench or in your mind that you can show, why are you here?

This is the question that started this topic more than a year ago.
I am here because of lancaiv, he is my hero. Thanks for all you shared over the years (also at the German OU forum).
Yes, I am curious and that is driving my research and practical projects. My machines have achieved 30 microwatt energy consumption and I am on the way to nanowatts. I am satisfied with the extreme efficiency of this machines running on some solar energy (free not stolen!) and supercap storage. One machine is running for over a year now. When I enter my lab seven machines are non-stop running at the windowsill. The longer they run the more they become an entity, a work of art.
It is hard to say what the added value is of this forum. I follow a couple of contributors and themes, thats all.

I am at this forum for 13 years now.
A regular visitor.
The response was very poor.
So, why sharing?

good education comes from need of understanding things on this forum,so you read,watch, analyze, and than you know more.
Value of  my lab equipment was millions when new.
I have learned how to  buy it very cheap , sale some of it for  a lot of money and still be cheaper than  others.
I used this money to buy more  and I gained  knowledge and value that cost me at the end
LESS than  ZERO.
So yes in economy there is  overunity ..It exists.

But what is left from all of it is knowledge how to turn around and make better life
for yourself even if you never  saw FE or made one.

The skills and ideas comes from this forum for many of you..
for me it was both..
Knowledge I previously had
+
knowledge I gained
+ money spend on equipment
= money  gained
= good life and 2 labs and satisfaction

so what is your gain if you do the same?
-you'll have plenty of tools to  perform work for others ,
-or small production
-incredible knowledge of that what  may make your life better or much better.
- new ideas or patents
- feeling  that  others around you differ so much  that you now feel like having a value they don't have
  and I say it again :
to make  your life better or much better or just incredibly better.
or to make it easier ..like me here now.
Don't need  much and don't need to work to much..
As I accumulated enough now.

You need to understand American system.
We are country of laws.
The quality of equipment is   making it often valuable after 30 years in service.
We are oversaturated  with everything.
There is not enough buyers for used equipment.
Institution buys equipment for given experiment or study and they can sale it after that.
The money they lost in  sale they recover  in taxes so they don't care much for how much it sales.
For USA important is that this organization buys again newer and better.
The manufacturer  made money along with distributor and everyone pays taxes.
Secondary owner/buyer  pays taxes and have use for it.
It  doesn't matter how much you pay for it and  how much you sale it for.
So  million dollars in value equipment (when it was purchased,) - can be sold for few dollars and than resold for much more
as long as you pay tax from it.

This is the privilege  of us  The Americans.
We pay our  American taxes, not you and we have rights to benefit from our American system.
You don't belong to my American family
Why should I support your  children and your wife and your lover?
Ask Your German government  why they don't support us Americans...the same way..

If there is any restriction on resale or sale limiting it  to :
-"sold to USA citizen only" , than you must obey it.
Most of buyers (if there is any buyer) keep it for  many years , so do I.
If I resale  equipment for whatever it can be sold for, and I use this money to purchase  another  equipment I pay not tax, other than sales tax.
But my net gain can be many times more,
so even after  I pay the tax  I'll still have plenty of money to buy more of the equipment
I can not stop buying  because  tax is paid from profit  if there is any.
Our system in USA  makes homeowners to buy more and more houses just to avoid  any gain,
we simply can not stop buying..
If institution organization or business had spend more money that they made in that given tax period
- they not only don't pay tax but they may claim  compensation of their losses.
Trump didn't pay any tax for around 20 years and it was legal.
US government  got:
-personal tax from Trump and his employees, 
-sales tax from  buyers of goods or services from Trump business.
-every of his clients spend money  in Trump hotels, restaurants and  City of New York.
- taxi, hear dresser, subway system,  grocery, gas, electrical service.. all of it pays tax..
  and all of this is paid by Trump guests.
