Micro tube being my word basically it is just adding several smaller diameter tubes of the hot side. there are several ways to do it the easiest would be to make a fitting that would ave the addition\ smaller diameter pipes brazed  or welded in place and fit the larger diameter open end to the hot side exhaust not dissimilar from adding the expansion on the cold side. The trick is to have smaller diameter fittings fill up the the entire diameter of the exhaust so s not to restrict the flow kinda  like a spray fitting for  water hose.

My only excuse is that I was never told it was impossible.

thanks for the clarification John,

if i remember correctly, the hottest streams occur on the outer-inner surface of the hot tube,
so perhaps a sort of tapered-microtube array that draws off those outer edges?
im sure i'll play around with several things in that respect when i get to actually building this thing.
I was fixing a shower-rod, slipped and hit my head on the sink. When i came to, that's when i had the idea for the "Flux Capacitor", Which makes Perpetual Motion possible.

Thats an idea  Inever thought of tapering off the outside befor the hot side exhaust since the faster flowing air is as you said flowing around the sides that might prove to be  more efficent (if it doesnt affect the vortex effect ) method than just using tubes off the exhaust. It would definatly tae a little work as each tube then would probbly need  one way valve s but I dont see ny reason why that wouldnt work if you ept enough pressure nd airflow in the vortex tube to continue the effect. I am wondering about the het off the tubes on the outside as well and if they het teh outside of the vortex tube what kind of effect will that have.

I m definatly interested to see what you come up with IMO the vortex tube is one of those really under studeyed devices  and has many more applications then spot heating and cooling.

i guess the question that was originally posed, and finally the reason i designed this home-made vortex to help answer

is, :: can we transfer more energy from the thermal differential between both ends,
than it takes to compress the air that runs the tube?

the original idea was peltier to electrical compressor.
but under the same idea - a sterling to mechanical compressor set-up would be the same, and perhaps more efficient.
