Partnered Output Coils - Free Energy

Some results from my new coil set. The HV is much reduced, as I expected. Some early casual scoposcopy indicates not much difference from the previous version, in the waveform from EMJ's Voltage testpoint, other than lower peaks and more ringing. I'll be doing more scoposcopy later on today.

The current draw with only the HV "load" is fairly  low, but with the 11 ohm load (10 ohm wirewound and 1 ohm precision non-inductive) it is still pretty high at 280 mA, and it will only light 4 neons.  With the resistive load circuit open (by the switch) I can light 10 neons with just 75 mA total current draw. I have the Slider 555 squarewave oscillator taking power in parallel to the main power input so its power is included in the Input Power figures... as it should be. (FG users take note: your FG is providing power to the system by acting as a current source driving the Base of the transistor and this power should be included in your input power measurement as well.)

I'll also be trying the L1 "primary" in the center position, later on today. Easy to do since all coils are equal in inductance and turns (approximately, within a couple of uH and one or two turns.)

Thanks for the info.  I really cannot wait to get my hands on a scope!  So much more learning to be done...
However, he has notified me that there is an issue with Channel 2.  He said it has been a while since he has used it and forgets exactly what the issue was, but recently turned it on and everything worked (except channel 2, of course).     I have done a bit of researching, and from what I've seen so far, the most common issue that causes channel 2 not to work properly is the pre-amplifier circuitry, more specifically the vertical axis preamp, just like it says in the link you sent me. I found some good preamp boards on ebay for $40-50, if necessary (if I am correct), if it comes to that, but I have also found that a lot of times it's as simple as some contacts needing to be cleaned and de-oxidized.  I have confirmed that I will be able to test the machine, and open it up for a quick canned-air cleaning and inspection, so I will be able to see the condition of everything if I decide to follow thru on the deal.
What are your thoughts on this situation?  Obviously it would be ideal to get one in perfect working order, calibrated and all, but with that I'm looking at $300-400.  With this, I am getting the scope and oscillator for approx $175 worth of stuff that I don't even want anymore.
Do you think it is worth getting and repairing?  If so, would you mind if, when I get it back home, I opened it up again and sent you some pictures to get your opinion on what I should do as far as maintenance/repairs go?

As for the Arduino, I'm going to download a couple books and watch some vids on the basics first, and if I hit any snags I can't find a solution to, I will take you up on that offer.  I don't expect you to "hold my hand" in learning how to use it! haha  that would be just plain disrespectful!  Thank you for the offer!

Talking about scope,  I have Some Siglent SDS1202DL.  TK or anybody else, maybe you can create the topic related to the scope. I can use it just in very limited level of knowledge. I guess there is much more I  can get of it  with your help ;)

I've been watching videos that mjlorton has up on how to use an oscilloscope. there is a huge number of videos on YT for O-scope how-to's, I've found that there are even ones for quite a few specific models and the features of them.  There are also quite a few threads over at EEVblog on how to use an o-scope.  It'll be a lot easier to follow along once I have one right here in front of me.   I hope it's just the contacts on the ch2 selection switches that need to be cleaned and no components actually need to be replaced!  I won't get my hopes up too high though.... It is a 30-something year old scope....

@Brian, yes, I think it would be a good value especially if you don't want or need the stuff you are trading for it. You are right that it may just need cleaning of the switch contacts. If it needs repair that too can be managed; as you found out there are replacement boards available for the vertical amplifiers and even if you had to replace the entire VA board rather than just a component you will still be way ahead. I haven't looked at a 465 Service Manual but the Tek manuals generally are very complete and will have troubleshooting and calibration guides along with complete schematics so tracking down the problem may be fairly straightforward.
I've seen a few scopes that were advertised as "not working" and it turned out that the sellers just didn't know how to get a trace to show up! Probably not that simple in your case though but one could always hope.

Arduinos are a _lot_ of fun and I'm always amazed at what can be done with them. And the programming language is essentially c++, which is great!
