The female journalist asks him what is actually being shown, why is it important and what's new in it. The gist of his reply is that it's a device which works autonomously producing 5kW after firing it up with 40W. Then they go on discussing the political aspects of the problem and Kapanadze thinks this device is the solution to the energy crisis. He says has brought this to the attention of the President and the Prime-Minister of Georgia to no avail.

See, the replicator will not only be remembered and honored but will also benefit financially in other ways than just patenting (how naive Kapanadze is in his thinking patents abroad will protect him) and selling the device if he goes along a different path, including finding ways to convince the participants in forums such as this one. As for the attempts to approach the scientific community, I know of no legitimate OU endeavor that has been forwarded properly to the scientific community. The latest example is Kapanadze. He complains but in fact, by his own admission, he has declined the offer by the scientific community. What does he expect, the scientific community to say 'yes' before he delivers the goods? No way. Scientists are no fools and there are well-established procedures for novelty to be presented, including the protection for the presenter, established in the course of centuries. This is a necessary conservatism which protects society from aggressive incompetents (and we see a lot of them in these forums) from taking over and draining its resources. I'm not even mentioning the crooks who will inevitably kick in at the slightest opportunity.

My condition for visiting him was that he should first send me a written statement that he will expect no money from me at any point of the demonstration. He never sent such a statement. I hear he has asked a sum on the order of $17,000 to demonstrate the device. Also, as far as I know, the Turkish firm he has worked with to build his 100kW system has severed the ties after he asked for 500,000 euros to disclose details in the patent the Turkish firm has been filing for him as a co-author. No wonder he can't find investors and the government isn't forthcoming.

I am not sure about $17.000 price tag just for a visit invitation and demo...
But 500.000 euro tag for such technology disclosure especially to serious power company are pennies against the potential of this technology and the capital it would bring.

I also wonder where that georgian guy got schematics to replicate Kapanadze work. Or it could be a replication based on his "personal" undertanding. Who knows...
