Katcher get power from push-pull output winding.

Conclusion: We should all come back to Akula set-up if you want to make BTG working.

Very usefull hints from my forum

Take a look. 10ns is very cool impulse! But here isn't problem in impulse width. It is necessary that inductor swallowed it. In other words, inductor must absorb nano-impulse. And for this purpose output of Katcher should be very powerful. In other words from 15kV to 17kV surely!! While the sine curve rising, fire impulse in antiphase (give Katcher antenna counter winding in respect to inductor). It is necessary that impulse hit sinus curve on top of sinusoide directly. If it has done at other place on curve - you will get nothing. It is necessary to hit sinus directly at beginning of free undamped oscillations or at start of coil ringing. Here is place where the "spring" will take off and will pump-up grenade with free energy. And it is the most pleasant moment at this setup. For BTG tuning simply put oscilloscope probe near inductor. Don't connect anything from measuring instruments while tuning BTG (generator). Before tuning you can measure everything you want.

Frequency 1.63MHz, light bulb 25 watts 220 volts light in white heat. Resonance has caught by grounding 6th layer of grenade and winding and winding-off katcher secondary coil. Use ferrite rod to show you exact frequency which is necessary to get resonance. Use external f/counter not built-in oscilloscope counter because he will give you indication error about 300 KHz - enough to never tune it like should be. When using ferrite rod and external f/counter everything will quickly take place with tuning. Katcher consuming about 1.2 A at 24V.

Akula BTG and good external f/counter AXMS811 !! 

Last hint: Take a look on Katcher power selector in Akula schematic. 30V - 45V - 60V. After rectification working voltage will be from 42,5V to 85V. It is 3.5 times more than katcher on 24V or 7 times more than 12V. Do you understand why we need 15..17kV HV Katcher output ?? In one of his videos i think it was "УСТАНОВКА №2" Akula said he has used more than 35kV to pump-up inductor. He has burned one of his HV probe on 35kV. So HV have been more higher. With couple of kilovolts will give us total fail. Tesla used for earth pumping more than 100 Million volts. I think you got it the sense.

Just for katcher secondary you have to increase electric field strength still which means another rewinding of secondary Tesla coil with increased spacing between turns for sake of increasing output voltage to 40-50kV range at the same frequency... This should light up CFLs on full brightness in same way as Ruslan just showed in his video.

Also please use disconnected computer UPS (like in http://www.ebay.com/sch/Uninterruptible-Power-Supplies-/99265/i.html?rt=nc&LH_BIN=1 ) all time instead of mains for power supply and scope as it has to be off the ground! The only one connection to the ground is grenade coil which makes top load to the Tesla coil secondary and the output grounding there makes path for particles pumping effect. Any other ground loop is destroying it.

Just some flow of thoughts.

Are we making Akulas device or Ruslan's simplified device?  Has Ruslan 16-18KV in his device with just couple turns of thick insulated wire and 24V input?? Does his device really work?   I do not see reason yet why to make things more complicated than they are.  I agree, with the higher Tesla power more power out but as far as I understand, Ruslan is able to make the sufficient results with lower voltage setup. Or am I wrong?  Yes tuning is a pain in an ass but has to be done.
