There are negative side-effects, some could call them so. When body is transporting these toxic substances to the digestive organs, then they will give you pain. But the pain is both moving and temporary in its nature. You will know why you have the pain, and by that you can take it.
The toxic matter is not that it can be surgically be removed, so there is no alternative really. Yes you can try to fool you and your body to "cure" the pain by giving your body MORE toxic substances, then it could move it "somewhere else" and there for time being, become passive. But never being cured.

Just to add one thing here for clarity.  When the body is cooled to a certain point it is the bodies defense mechanism to keep the core of the body warm by reducing circulation in the extremities and keeping the blood supply in the core to keep the organs warm and functioning.  By making use of this inherent defense mechanism one can move large amounts of 'stuck' toxins and other damaging things around in a way that will lead to their elimination from the body and thus better health.
