A gyroscope is forced to point its axis in one direction due to the spinning mass. If your gyroscope was "floating" in air, it would change the axis with respect to the ground as the earth turns around - approx 15° per hour.
Fixing the gyroscope to the earth, will not do anything other than stressing the axle material in the gyroscope, but the spin will continue effortless, and the gyroscope will not do anything with gravity.
