     The spike is powerful in that it creates a very dense energy field.  It doesn't go anywhere where comes to it.   Resistance of a conductor produces heat in proportion to the current flow.  What if the resistance of the conductor was actually causing cold spots and the ambient field heat is  concentrating in the conductor.  Something like how the sun works.  The corona being hotter than the surface.  The surface sucking heat  and the magnetic field containing the input. What frequency does heat have around here.  Infrared I think.  Infrared wavelength into the spark gap dc gain out of the spark gap/tube/pn junction.

doesn't the flux vary with current? with an AC current, the flux will vary in direction and time.
